Steel BB: Interpipe opens new warehouse to serve western Kazakhstan
Ukrainian pipemaker Interpipe has set up a new warehouse in Atyrau, Kazakhstan, to get closer to its customers in the western part of this country, Steel Business Briefing learns.

With the new warehouse, which has a capacity of 3,000 tonnes, Interpipe’s storage capacity, previously comprising warehouses in Astana and Alma-Ata, has increased to 11,000t. Moreover, the move allows Interpipe to get over “logistic inconveniences”.

With warehouses in the central and eastern parts of Kazakhstan, deliveries to customers in the country’s west involved transportation distances of up to 2,700 kilometres.

Atyrau province, bordering the Caspian Sea, represents one of Kazakhstan’s most pipe intensive regions. With 87 oil and gas deposits currently, Atyrau’s demand for pipe never slumps, SBB understands from the local government.

Auxiliary pipe for the oil industry make up much of Interpipe’s sales in Kazakhstan, although the company also sales utility linepipe and mechanical pipe for the machine building industry.
