INTERPIPE
Key infrastructure modernization

The construction of Interpipe Steel will result in the construction of a number of other large facilities that will aid the operation of the new mill.

Modernization of the open-joint stock company "Dnepropetrovskyi Vtormet”

The renewal of the existing scrap-processing equipmentas well as the purchase of new equipment is part of Interpipe’s modernization. In particular, four new processing complexes, with capacity from 10 to 25 tons per month, will be installed and launched with full capacity. These are powerful units – stationary and mobile shearing presses, produced by Franco-German company AKROSHENSCHEL, that will be installed both in the head enterprise and in plants at Lugansk and Nikopol.

The unique power cable line

The cable
line extending to 12.8 km is designed to connect the electric steel smelting complex Interpipe Steel with a new substation, "Pechnaya" and Pridneprovskaya Thermal Power Plant (TPP). The 330 kW cable line is the first ultra high-voltage cable line in Ukraine. The new cable line is laid underground at a depth of five feet, and under the bottom of the river Samara by using horizontal directional drilling. New technology and research into the best possible route has enabled Interpipe to avoid a negative impact on the environment and population.

The new substation "Pechnaya"

The "Pechnaya" substation is one of the key elements in the supply of energy for the future plant. It will enable the smooth operation of the system: Pridneprovskaya Thermal Power Plant– cable line – Substation "Pechnaya" – electric steel smelting complex.

The commutation equipment of "Pechanya" is supplied by leaders in power equipment – Siemens and ABB. Analogues of such sophistication and power do not exist anywhere else in Ukraine. The “Pechnaya” substation has additional reserves of power to increase capacity to construct the second stage of the plant.
New Lime Factory

To provide high-quality lime for Interpipe Steel, Interpipe is building a new lime factory in Dnepropetrovsk. A modern mining parallel flow-counterflow regenerative furnace Cim-Reversy Twin-D 55 is being constructed at a new plant by the Cimprogetti company (Italy). This will reduce the total amount of emissions to the level of European standards

The parallel flow, counterflow regenerative furnace provides the lowest heat rate among all modern furnaces currently available. In addition, this technology produces high-quality lime, which satisfies all requirements of steelmaking.

New oxygen plant

During the planning of Interpipe Steel, Interpipe concluded a contract with the MESSER company for the supply of technological gases (oxygen, argon and nitrogen) to the plant. MESSER is a world leader in the manufacturing of air separation products. Under the contract, the MESSER company will build a new oxygen plant near the electric steel smelting complex.

Development of transport infrastructure

To guarantee the smooth operation of Interpipe Steel, construction of new highways and railroads has taken place that will allow for the unloading of traffic on existing trunk routes. The reconstruction of the track facilities of Interpipe NTRP is one of the main areas of development (NTRP is one of the largest enterprises in the region), with total length of the railways – 5300 m, including 42 turnouts with four stations.

Interpipe is also building a new railway station “Steel" that will provide the new plant with railway tracks with a total length of 5087 m, including 16 turnouts. Also being constructed is an outside house track for metal inputfrom "Dniepropetrovskiy Vtormet”. The total length of the railways comes to 1,197 m.

In addition, the Company has already started construction of access roads, in Vinokurova and Kashtanovaya streets in Dnepropetrovsk, including urban traffic lights.
